Wendell & Wild: Key and Peele reunite for an animated outing from Henry Selick

Wendell & Wild, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Netflix, Henry Selick

Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange? Key and Peele‘s Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are reteaming as cast members for Wendell & Wild, a new animated film from Henry Selick (Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas). In addition to Key and Peele, the cast also includes Lyric Ross (This is Us), Angela Bassett (Waiting to Exhale), James Hong (Turning Red), Tamara Smart (A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting), Natalie Martinez (The Twilight Zone), Tantoo Cardinal (Smoke Signals), Gabrielle Dennis (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Igal Naor (300: Rise of an Empire), David Harewood (Supergirl), Maxine Peake (Black Mirror), Ramona Young (Blockers), Sam Zelaya, Seema Virdi, Gary Gatewood and Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction).

Written by Selick and Peele, Deadline reports that Wendell & Wild is an animated tale about scheming demon brothers Wendell (Keegan-Michael Key) and Wild (Peele), who enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot – a tough teen with a load of guilt -to summon them to the Land of the Living. But what Kat demands in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other, an animated fantasy that defies the law of life and death, all told through the handmade artistry of stop-motion.

Selick will produce with Ellen Goldsmith-Vein for The Gotham Group, Peele and Win Rosenfeld for Monkey Paw, with The Gotham Group’s Lindsay Williams and Eddie Gamarra exec producing alongside Monkeypaw’s Kamil Oshundara and Ian Cooper. Meanwhile, Oscar nominee Bruno Coulais (Les Choristes) is composing the score.

Oh, hell yeah! Selick is back in action, baby! I think this project has so much potential, and I can wait to see how it all comes together. It feels like ages since Key and Peele joined forces for something as momentous as this. I bet the recording sessions for this movie are going to be a laugh riot.

Wendell & Wild is steadily coming together and will premiere on Netflix once all is ready to be revealed!
