We’ve all heard the rumor that New Line is supposedly attempting to seduce Sam Raimi into directing an adaptation of THE HOBBIT now that Peter Jackson is public enemy number 1 (through 20) around the New Line offices. AICN recently dropped another name into the directorial mix, however – MASTER AND COMMANDER director Peter Weir. If it’s true, it certainly isn’t a bad choice. Weir is familiar with big budget actioners with a surprising amount of heart so if he is to take over for Jackson, he’s certainly capable of doing as good a job. Of course, this is all just rumor until officially confirmed or denied but, either way, what do you guys think about it? Good choice? Bad choice? Too Australian-y choice? Strike back a little sumtin’, sumtin’, will ya?
Weir does The Hobbit?
