Filmmaker Christopher Nolan's twisty espionage epic TENET once again sat in first place at the overall minimal box office with an estimated $3.4 million for the weekend.

The PG-13 sci-fi thriller is now up to a domestic total of $41.2 million after four weeks on North American screens. It's cruising along with much bigger business overseas, now up to a worldwide total of $283 million.

The $200 million Warner Bros. movie, starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki, doesn't look like it will have any big-league comeptition for many weeks. As expected, Disney has pushed Marvel's BLACK WIDOW from November 6 out to May 2021, and Kenneth Branagh's ensemble murder mystery DEATH ON THE NILE has floated from October 23 to December 18. If the current schedule holds, TENET will have nearly two months to keep scraping up cash before the James Bond movie NO TIME TO DIE hits on November 20 date.

The PG-13 mutant spinoff THE NEW MUTANTS remained in second place with $1.1 million for a domestic total of $19.4 million on its fifth weekend. Director Josh Boone's horror-flavored entry in the X-MEN franchise has the same amount from overseas audiences for a worldwide total of $38.8 million.

In third place was the Russell Crowe thriller UNHINGED with $1 million, bringing the R-rated road-rage terror to a domstic total of $17.1 million and a worldwide total of $26.2 million (on a reported cost of $33 million).

Opening in fourth place was BREAK THE SILENCE: THE MOVIE with $980,000 for the weekend. The documentary about K-pop superstars BTS has a current worldwide total of $5.3 million.

The 1980 sequel STAR WARS: EPISODE V — THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Force-pushed its way onto 2100 screens this weekend, because… well, why the hell not at this point.

The movie's reappearance settled into fifth place and added another $908,000 to its running total, which now puts it at a domestic figure of $291.1 million (not adjusted for inflation) including its original release and the 1997 big-screen Special Edition reissue.

In sixth place was the Jim Caviezel political thriller INFIDEL with $745,000 for a ten-day total of $2.6 million. The Dacre Montgomery/Geraldine Viswanathan romantic comedy THE BROKEN HEARTS GALLERY followed in seventh place with $470,000 for the weekend, which takes it to $3.2 million after three weeks.

The low-budget monster movie SHORTCUT was released on 725 screens this weekend. The R-rated horror-thriller, about a stranded bus full of students menaced by a lethal creature, grabbed $305,000 for its debut.

Willing movigoers got a rare opportunity to see Neo-Tokyo explode on a big screen this weekend as another sci-fi classic went racing onto 440 locations with the 4K release of the 1988 anime AKIRA.

Adapted from his popular manga series, Katsuhiro Otomo's R-rated futuristic story of teen motorcycle gangs and psychic mayhem collected $270,000 for the weekend.

The fast-food comedy THE LAST SHIFT and the Evan Rachel Wood/Gina Rodriguez drama KAJILLIONAIRE were also new to screens this weekend, making $235k and $215k respectively.

While Disney+ subscribers can check out the live-action remake of MULAN (for an extra $30), Disney's $200 million update of the legendary tale has been making its way to screens around the world and has caught $64.4 million worldwide so far.
