The visceral thriller, which cost a reported $10 million, has a 10-day domestic total of $51.1 million.
SUICIDE SQUAD was again in second place with $10 million as the DC Comics anti-heroes stretch toward a $300 million domestic total on its fifth weekend in theaters. The Jason Statham sequel MECHANIC: RESURRECTION closed out the list, down 43% from its anemic opening last weekend.
Outside the chart, JASON BOURNE stepped out of the Top 10 (with $378 million worldwide) and the chariot of BEN-HUR came to a halt. Despite featuring talent like Paul Giamatti, Kate Mara and Jennifer Jason Leigh and opening on 2000 screens, the sci-fi thriller MORGAN only made $1.9 million.
Next weekend delivers Tom Hanks as the titular pilot in Clint Eastwood's SULLY, Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall deal with a nightmare surrogate in WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS, more animated talking animals arrive in THE WILD LIFE, and Kate Beckinsale spends time in THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM.
