The creepy and kooky series based on the characters created by Charles Addams is breaking records after its first week, with 341.23M hours viewed. How impressive is this total? Special enough to defeat the fourth season of Stranger Things, which previously held the title with 335 million hours clocked. Squid Game remains the all-time record holder for those playing at home, with 571.8M hours viewed during its best week.

Additionally, Wednesday danced its way into the Top 10 in 93 countries, laying comfortably with its arms folded in 83. It’s also worth noting Wednesday has streamed in over 50 million households. Many viewers across generations love the title character or are meeting her for the first time. Whatever the situation is, Wednesday Addams is blowing up like fish swimming too close to a stick of dynamite across social media platforms like Twitter, TikTok, and Hive.

My partner and I binged Tim Burton’s Wednesday over the weekend, blowing through the entire presentation throughout most of Saturday. The series reminds me of a cross between Harry Potter, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and a dash of Enola Holmes. I will be delighted but not surprised when Netflix announces another season of Wednesday’s next semester at Nevermore Academy.

Speaking with TVLine, Wednesday creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar said they have high hopes for a shot at making a second season of the hit show. “The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of gray. I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors. It’s never going to be smooth sailing. And it’s really her learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship,” said Gough.

Millar added they’re hoping to give Wednesday’s family some more screen time in the next season. “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”
