We do love a good success story, but we might love failure even more. Apple TV+ has unveiled the first teaser trailer for WeCrashed, a new limited series starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway that chronicles the rise and fall of WeWork, a commercial real estate company that provides flexible shared workspaces for startups and other companies.
Inspired by actual events, as well as the love story at the center of it all, WeCrashed will show how WeWork grew from a single coworking space into a global brand worth more than $47 billion in less than a decade… before it all came crashing down. Jared Leto plays Adam Neumann, the charismatic co-founder of WeWork, with Anne Hathaway playing Rebekah Neumann, Adam’s wife who worked alongside her husband.
The eight-episode series is based on the hit Wondery podcast, WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork from Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello, who also serve as co-writer, co-showrunners, and executive producers of the series. Eisenberg has previously said that what separates WeCrashed from other shows in this genre “is that we watch the story through the prism of this couple. We see this cult of personality within the business story, and then come home with them at night.” They also immediately knew that Anne Hathaway was the only person who could play Rebekah. “We became even more fascinated with Rebekah than we were with Adam, which says quite a bit,” Crevello said. “There are such complexities to the character — it required an actor of unsurpassed skill to capture all of the shades.“
WeCrashed has been directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, who also serve as executive producers alongside Eisenberg and Crevello. In addition to Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway, WeCrashed also stars Kyle Marvin, America Ferrera, and O-T Fagbenle. The first three episodes of WeCrashed will debut on Apple TV+ on March 18, 2022, followed by new episodes each Friday. What did you think of the WeCrashed trailer?
