WE tv to marathon Eli Roth/Jason Blum series South of Hell on Black Friday

Following Netflix into the era of binge watching, WE tv has announced that they will be premiering the Jason Blum-produced supernatural thriller series South of Hell with a marathon, showing all seven episodes of the series in a row.

This marathon, what WE tv is calling a "binge event", will occur on Black Friday, November 27th. The first episode will begin at 6pm EST and the finale will conclude at 1am Saturday.

The series synopsis:

Charleston, South Carolina is an elusive city with many faces and the perfect home for Maria Abascal (Mena Suvari, “Chicago Fire”), a stunning, 30-year-old demon-hunter-for-hire. Alongside her brother, David (Zachary Booth, “Keep the Lights On”), she is skilled and fearless in her pursuit of the demons that live in others. Like those that she hunts, Maria is divided within herself, struggling with her own demon, Abigail, who resides inside of her, feeding on the evil Maria exorcises from others. Maria and Abigail share a soul and a destiny, but as Maria desperately tries to overtake Abigail, she will discover how far Abigail will go to remain a part of her.

Mena Suvari and Zachary Booth's co-stars include Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker, Paulina Singer, Lydia Hearst, Slate Holmgren, and Lauren Velez.

The pilot episode of South of Hell was directed by Eli Roth, with following episodes having been directed by the likes of Ti West, Rachel Talalay, Jennifer Lynch, and Jeremiah Chechik.

If a TV network has ever done this before, it hasn't caught my attention. I've heard of channels presenting marathons of old shows they've recently acquired the rights to air, but not for a new show. Although South of Hell is a series I've been very interested in since it was first announced, I don't know if I'll be tuning in for the seven hour binge event. I'm not much of a binge watcher, an episode a week is more my speed, and even then I tend to fall behind. I will be watching South of Hell, but gradually.

Once the marathon has ended, all seven episodes of South of Hell will be available on VOD.
