We Talk Tag with Jeremy Renner, Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Isla Fisher and more!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

When it comes to friendships, social media has found a way for us to keep in touch with old pals years and years after we’ve lost contact. Yet, for some, that is not enough. TAG is a new film based on a true story; and what a story it is. A group of buddies from all the way back to their teen years spend one month every year since playing a very serious game of tag. No matter what city they happen to be in, when and where the game is played, they are on the run trying to outwit each other. In the latest comedy from director Jeff Tomsic, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Ed Helms, Jake Johnson and Ed Helms are joined by Isla Fisher, Leslie Bibb and Annabelle Wallis bring this crazy real llfe tale to the big screen.

The junket for the film started off with a bang. When you have Isla Fisher and Leslie Bibb in a room talking about all the insanity, you will have a smile on your face the entire time. These two wildly talented actors discussed getting to play for laughs along with the guys, and how that attracted them to the project. Isla also shared a very funny and sort of adorable story about riding an Uber. Speaking with these two together was pretty much a highlight of the entire year so far.

Next up we spoke to Jake Johnson and Hannibal Buress. When I asked about working with familiar faces, Jake mentioned he had only worked with Annabelle Wallis before and this was his first time with the rest of the cast. However, he seemed to fit in perfectly. When it came to memories, Hannibal discussed going back to his old school a couple of years back, and just how well he did speaking to the graduating class. You have to give him credit for shooting it straight for the young minds… I’m sure they will be fine.

Next up we spoke to the rest of the gang. I would have never thought I’d speak with Jon Hamm, Ed Helms and Jeremy Renner together, but I did just that. The three incredibly chill guys opened up about their own high school memories. And as for Renner, he talked about changing things up a bit and taking on a very different kind of flick – even if he is still big into action with this one. Renner even opened up about a similar game that he used to play as a teen. Hamm, when it came to the message of the movie, added that we as people maybe need to have a little more fun and not take things all that seriously all the time. I fully agree.

And finally, I sat down with the absolutely lovely Annabelle Wallis. She talked about her past work and how it led her to TAG, and about preparing to play a journalist. In fact, she even offered a little tip from her experiences. This incredibly charming talent discussed working in different genres, and how she makes the decisions on where the work takes her. It was such a pleasure speaking with all members of this fantastic group. And now, you can join in on the fun and check out TAG, this Friday at a theatre near you.
