We talk Insidious: The Last Key w/ Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell & Adam Robitel!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I’ve been a fan of the INSIDIOUS franchise from the very beginning. Since the original film, we’ve witnessed a number of spooky events terrorizing innocent families. Yet this time, in the third sequel, we find that the one being haunted is series regular Elise Rainier – once again played by the extraordinary Lin Shaye. With the focus on Elise and her pals, Specs and Tucker (Leigh Whannall and Angus Sampson) this may be the best INSIDIOUS yet. For his first time with directing duties on an INSIDIOUS sequel, Adam Robitel handles the horror, humor and heart especially well.

Recently, at the junket for the film, we spoke to Adam, Lin and Leigh about returning to The Further. For Adam, this was a huge opportunity, yet one that must have been a little intimidating. He discussed taking this on and making it his own, all the while still being truthful to what James Wan and Leigh Whannell brought fans. And speaking of fans, I am certainly one of Ms. Shaye. Talking with both Lin and Leigh, it was wonderful to hear her open up about the growth of this iconic character, and just how Leigh decided to go about telling a more personal story with her.

Spending time with this incredible group for this fun flick was exciting, but it was also entertianing to speak to a real life psychic, Alma Carey. While we didn’t get too much into my own story, she did open up about her “gift” and how she has been able to use it. If you are going to do a movie about a demonic presence, it is definitely awesome to have somebody like he to speak to. Are you ready for INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY? The latest, and most personal chapter, is heading to theatres for a beginning of the year treat.
