Yelena Belova and Spider-Man will come together in a new film, but it’s not what you think. After presenting at the 95th Academy Awards together, Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Midsommar) and Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hacksaw Ridge) are in talks to star in We Live In Time, a unique love story directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn, Boy A). Crowley directs from a screenplay by Nick Payne (Wanderlust, The Last Letter from Your Lover), with StudioCanal developing the script and producing with SunnyMarch.
According to Deadline, the plot remains a mystery. However, the outlet describes it as a “funny, deeply moving and immersive love story.” If Pugh and Garfield sign on, cameras will roll later this year.
Pugh and Garfield were a highlight of Sunday’s Oscars celebration, with both stars looking glamorous and in good spirits. Who knew their pairing was a sign of things to come?
Later this month, Pugh will star alongside Morgan Freeman in Zach Braff’s latest drama, A Good Person. In the film, Pugh plays Allison, a young woman whose life is changed forever after a terrible accident. While trying to piece her life back together, she connects with another victim of her fatal mistake and must learn to make amends if they’re both to move on from the tragedy. Pugh is also a part of the ensemble cast for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which tells the story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in developing the atomic bomb. Nolan directs, with Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Jack Quaid, Gary Oldman, Alden Ehrenreich, Kenneth Branagh, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, Rami Malek, Gustaf Skarsgård, Casey Affleck, and more set to star.
You can catch Garfield in Hulu’s TV mini-series Under the Banner of Heaven, based on the nonfiction novel of the same name by Jon Krakauer. Garfield plays Detective Jeb Pyre, a Latter-day Saint detective for the East Rockwell, Utah police department. Gilm Birmingham plays Detective Bill Taba, a Paiute man and non-Latter-day Saint, another detective. Together, the duo investigates a brutal murder seemingly connected to Mormonism.
