Sacha Baron Cohen needs no introduction. The man behind some of the most iconic comedic characters in modern times – Ali G, Borat, Bruno – is in the next stage of his career, which includes crafting new storylines for new absurd personalities. His latest film is THE BROTHERS GRIMSBY which focuses on Nobby Butcher, the beer-guzzling, football-loving hooligan from the town of Grimsby who discovers his long-lost brother (played by Mark Strong) is alive and well… and a secret agent. Soon, Nobby is reunited with his brother and involved in an attempt to stop a team of deadly assassins from carrying out a cataclysmic attack on England. But the plot's not what really matters, it's the gross-out gags and riotous displays of irreverence that you'll walk away thinking about.
I had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Cohen the other day about the creation of Nobby, the battles with the MPAA, the film's sequel potential, and what Cohen has coming up next.
