Released in 1992, Alien 3 (watch or buy it HERE) was directed by David Fincher from a screenplay credited to David Giler, Walter Hill, and Larry Ferguson, with Vincent Ward getting a story credit. While that film is very divisive, it was the result of a long development process that saw several different screenwriters turning in drafts of the script that were quickly rejected. The very first writer for Alien 3 was author William Gibson, who was working on the script by the end of 1987 – just one year after the release of Aliens. In the latest episode of our video series The Horror Movie That Almost Was, embedded above, we dig into Gibson's vision for Alien 3.
Is there a chance Gibson's script would have resulted in a film that was more well-received that the Alien 3 we got? How did he handle the characters of Ripley, Hicks, and Newt? Watch the video to find out!
