It’s not the true sequel fans have been begging for but it’ll have to do, I suppose. Earlier this week we landed a handful of images from producer Adi Shankar’s limited edition web series, “Superfiend”, which is said to be inspired by the "Dark Judges" comic arc from Judge Dredd.
The animated series was written and directed by The Junquera Brothers and it looks pretty… out there, to say the least. I’m not familiar with the comics or the kind of tone they have, but “Superfiend” looks all sorts of crazy. I wonder how this will sit with Judge Dredd fans, so let us know what you think!
“I personally love cartoons, so I wanted to mimic the look of 90’s MTV, “Ren & Stimpy,” Liquid Television, with a dash of “ReBoot” and juxtapose that with the trademark violence found in everything I have done. When I was younger all of your favorite comic book sci-fi anti-hero characters had an animated series, X-Men: The Animated Series, Ultraforce, WildC.A.T.s, Savage Dragon, and even Youngblood got close … so in that tradition this is Judge Dredd’s foray into ultraviolent kids animation,” Shankar told Collider.
