Director Brian DePalma is dipping his toe back in the erotic thriller genre that helped make him famous in the '70's and '80's with PASSION, his new film starring Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. The film is a remake of the French film LOVE CRIME, but follows the same premise, which focuses on a "rivalry between the manipulative boss of an advertising agency (McAdams) and her talented protégée (Rapace) escalates from stealing credit to public humiliation to murder." The film premiered at TIFF last year (our review here) and is set to premiere on iTunes and On Demand tomorrow.
Take a look:
I'm a little more intrigued by this than I thought I would be. I love DePalma's early work, but he hasn't done much of late and what he has done has been an odd sort. The clip starts off feeling a bit forced, but by the end I was on board to keep watching. True, I'm a sucker for beautiful ladies, especially with McAdams and Rapace onscreen, but they have a good energy together and I like the dynamic of McAdams as the strong, conniving type and Rapace as the timid one, which is a bit of a role reversal in terms of the roles these actresses typically play.
PASSION hits iTunes and VOD tomorrow, August 1, 2013.
