In this recurring series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love ’em or hate ’em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it’s always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time we take a look at 2001’s nominees (for movies made in 2000), including Ridley Scott‘s GLADIATOR with Russell Crowe, Lasse Hallström’s CHOCOLAT with Johnny Depp, Steven Soderbergh‘s TRAFFIC with Benicio Del Toro, Steven Soderbergh‘s ERIC BROCKOVICH with Julia Roberts, and Ang Lee‘s CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON with Chow Yun Fat, as well as our Snub Pick of the Year!
