Han Solo is one of the most revered movie characters there is, and Harrison Ford is an icon for breathing life into the lovable smuggler. Ford owned the role for decades but passed the torch to Alden Ehrenreich for the origin story SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. Ford seems to be in full support of Ehrenreich and was even on hand to give a playful surprise to him during a recent interview.
During the press tour for SOLO Ehrenreich was answering a question about what advice Ford gave him when he got the role, only to have the original Han Solo sneak up behind him. Of course, Ford dished out his trademark curmudgeonly wit saying “get out of my chair.” Oh, Ford, you scoundrel!
Ehrenreich continued, shifting to how much it means to him that Ford not only enjoyed the film but took time to come see him.
It’s just such a huge deal to have him really genuinely love it. He really genuinely enjoyed the film, and it meant a lot to me that he took the time to come out here and do that.
Ford is not the only one who dug the movie, as the first wave of reactions praised both the movie and Ehrenreich’s performance. The movie is projected to earn as much as $175 million for its Memorial Day weekend opening next week, and it continues to sell more and more tickets every day. If the young actor is the real deal then we can look forward to seeing more of him, as Ehrenreich revealed that he signed on for three films.
SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY arrives May 25.
