As time marches on since last Sunday's airing of HBO's GAME OF THRONES episode, "The Bells," fans of the blood, guts, and betrayal action drama have had ample time to create some hilarious memes and sweet videos based on the show's jaw-dropping events. As you're likely to be aware, because let's face it, you can't go anywhere on social media without encountering GOT spoilers, Daenerys laid waste to the settlement of King's Landing during the penultimate episode's fiery finale. The carnage took many fans by surprise, so much so that a select group of individuals saw fit to create a petition demanding that HBO remake the entire season with new writers. Needless to say, the destruction of King's Landing and Daenerys' not-so-sudden turn toward the dark side has left many feeling divided about the program's bold curtain call. Now, thanks to a YouTube user by the name of Danny Peck, we have yet another reason to stare with our mouths agape as the property and populous of King's Landing are burnt to cinders.
In the video, Peck pairs the now-iconic razing of King's Landing sequence with Metallica's classic "For Whom the Bell Tolls" from the band's 1984 album Ride the Lightning. If I may be so blold, the marriage of both the scene and Metallica's doomsday anthem is quite ingenious. While not every aspect of the song pairs with the unholy destruction, there are whole sections of the song that sync perfectly with the mayhem. I particularly enjoy the build toward the beginning of the song, when Metallica bandmates James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet are noodling away on their guitars, building tension, as Jon Snow, Tyrion, Cersei, and Greyworm bear witness to Dany's wrath.
I invite you all to check out the video below, and be sure to raise your horns high when shit really begins to hit the fan:
Meanwhile, the final episode of GAME OF THRONES will air this Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO.
