Billy Boyd’s end credits song for THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES “The Last Goodbye” now has a music video showing select clips from all six Middle-earth films. It’s a great way to say goodbye and the behind-the-scenes stuff especially was a nice touch. Whether it is goosebumps or tears, it's hard not to watch this video and not feel something. I said goodbye to Middle-Earth with THE RETURN OF THE KING and can't say I've been an admirer of the latest Peter Jackson has had to offer with THE HOBBIT series; but looking back on the journey with this music video honestly has me wanting to visit the entire series once it's complete next month.
Boyd told EW about working on the song:
“After seeing the film, I went to my room and I started to put down some ideas, and along with Fran and Philippa, we started to sculpt the song we thought the movie needed. A lot of ideas took us to dead ends or we found the tone wasn’t just right. I think we discovered very quickly this wasn’t just a song to end The Battle of the Five Armies—it was a song to say goodbye to Middle-earth.”
THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES hits theaters on December 17th 2014 and the soundtrack with "The Last Goodbye" will be available on December 9th 2014.
