The former regime of the DC extended universe is reaching its climax. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is due out later this year, and although James Wan considers his movies to be in their own corner of the big picture, it’s still rooted in Zack Snyder’s original continuity. Blue Beetle, which will be premiering during the summer, has been confirmed by James Gunn himself that the character is the first official superhero that takes place in his new universe despite the movie being produced before his entry into the company.
Comicbook.com has reported that a DCEU Blu-ray box set is planned to be released by Warner Bros. The ten movie listing of the box set will include the films Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Shazam!, Aquaman, Wonder Woman 1984, Black Adam, Shazam!: Fury of the Gods and The Flash. Curiously, the Blu-ray set does not include either Suicide Squad movies and Birds of Prey. There are no details released as to why they specifically left out the movies that feature Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn character. Also, although the box art also does not clarify it, the official product description on Amazon infers that the version of Justice League included will be Zack Snyder’s Justice League as well as the director’s cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
At the present time, this multi-film release is only listed on the French Amazon site, and the pricing comes to 150,49€, in which the exchange rate comes out to around $165 USD. It is yet to be announced if the American price will match the exchange rate. The date the set hits the streets is not yet listed, but as the collection includes The Flash, it’s likely it will be sold in conjunction with the home video release of the recent summer film. The timing is also interesting, seeing as how the Aquaman sequel will not have been in theaters yet, nor is it planned to be included, which makes this collection fall short for any completionist.
Retail sites have started to make pre-orders available for The Flash, but the street date for the lone film has also not yet been announced at this time.
