Now you’d expect this type of news to hit after a film has come out and made a splash at the box office, not a good five months before the film has even come out!
Well it seems Warner Bros. have so much faith that WRATH OF THE TITANS the upcoming sequel to CLASH OF THE TITANS will have the repeated success of that first film. How do we know this? They are already developing a third film, perhaps planning the series to be a trilogy? They have gotten Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson to develop a treatment for a third film that would naturally continue off where ever WRATH leaves off.
Apparently the producers Basil Iwanyk and Polly Johnsen would come back for a third with current director Jonathan Liebesman in mind to also come back. However no deals are currently in place, although we can probably expect them to get made. As for WRATH we shall see what happens, star Sam Worthington has promised this one will be a much better film.
WRATH OF THE TITANS synopsis: A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.
Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.
Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares, switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth.
Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
Sam stars with Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Toby Kebbell, Rosamund Pike (below) and Bill Nighy in WRATH.
