War Is Hell book looks at the making of Hellraiser III, features unproduced treatments

Earlier today, we shared the news that screenwriter Peter Atkins has published his original screenplay for Hellraiser: Bloodline, a story that got severely compromised on its way to the screen. Going hand-in-hand with that publication is the release of author Danny Stewart’s book War Is Hell: Making Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (pick up a copy at THIS LINK), which not only takes a look behind-the-scenes of the making of Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (watch the movie HERE), but also features unproduced Hellraiser III treatments that Atkins wrote when the project was in development!

The version of Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth that was released in 1992 was directed by Anthony Hickox from a screenplay by Atkins (based on a story Atkins crafted with Hellbound: Hellraiser II director Tony Randel). The film has the following synopsis:

After learning in “Hellraiser II” that he used to be British air force Capt. Elliot Spencer — before he was sucked into another dimension and turned into the pain-craving creature known as Pinhead — Spencer’s soul ends up in limbo. Meanwhile, Pinhead is sealed in a column, which is bought by J.P. Monroe. In a dream, reporter Joey Summerskill learns from Spencer she must reunite his two halves to send the murderous Pinhead back to his world.

Hellraiser III stars Terry Farrell, Paula Marshall, Kevin Bernhardt, and Ken Carpenter, with Doug Bradley as Pinhead.
