The so-called “cancer comedy” 50/50 is actually much more than that. It’s an incredibly moving drama that just so happens to have a few funny dick jokes sprinkled in. As I noted at the time I saw it, I noted it’s the movie FUNNY PEOPLE probably wanted to be. It’s packed with amazing performances from Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who had only two weeks to prepare for the role as he filled in for James McAvoy who left a few days into filming), Anna Kendrick and Angelica Huston.
