WandaVision: Teyonah Parris calls new Marvel series a full-on action movie

Teyonah Parris, who will make her MCU debut in Marvel's upcoming series WandaVision, is over the moon about being a part of superhero history later this year. When WandaVision blasts onto Disney+, Parris will play a grown-up Monica Rambeau, who in the pages of Marvel Comics can disrupt and manipulate energy, giving her the ability to travel at light speeds and bend the electromagnetic spectrum to her desire. Recently while speaking with The Undefeated, Parris likened WandaVision to an "all-out action movie," which is bound to excite fans that have gone without an MCU film since 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.

During her talk with The Undefeated, Parris spoke about how she's always dreamt of stepping into the role of a superhero, but always lacked the confidence that it would happen given that "Black women are not afforded that opportunity." Thankfully, some dreams do come true, and now Parris is on deck to become one of the MCU's most powerful and intriguing characters.

As their talk continued, Parris teased the show's level of action, saying, "I’m so happy to be a part of this universe. And to be Monica Rambeau, she’s such a badass in the comics. I just can’t believe that this is happening. This is a full-on action movie, mixed with sitcoms, it’s wild. It’s wild. I think people will be very excited."

In addition to being an episodic series on Disney+, WandaVision will also tie-in to DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, which we suspect will be directed by Evil Dead filmmaker Sam Raimi. Knowing this, I suspect that Wanda's reality-based magic will play a major role in bringing Vision back to life while also bringing about major changes for the MCU going forward. Things are likely to get really strange when WandaVision arrives, and I am here for it.

For the moment, WandaVision is expected to stream on Disney+ in December. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as a more exact date becomes available. Until then, we'll just sit patiently atop all these pins and needles. No big deal.
