Last year HBO ordered a comedy series called Vice Principals from Eastbound & Down creators Danny McBride, David Gordon Green and Jody Hill, and now it’s being reported that Justified and DJANGO UNCHAINED star Walton Goggins has joined the project. The series will tell the story of a high school and the people who almost run it (the vice principals), with McBride playing a VP named Neal Gamby, and Goggins playing Lee Russell, “a conniving politician who enters into an unholy alliance with Gamby.”
Busy Philipps (Freaks and Geeks) will also appear in the 18-episode series as Gamby’s ex, and Boardwalk Empire actor Shea Whigham will play her new husband.
I’m not a huge Danny McBride fan like some, however I really enjoyed Eastbound & Down, and I love me some Walton Goggins, so yeah, I’m interested in checking out Vice Principals. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when filming will start for the series or when it’ll air on HBO.
Danny McBride can be seen next in Cameron Crowe‘s ALOHA on May 29, 2015, and Walton Goggins is currently filming for Quentin Tarantino‘s THE HATEFUL EIGHT, which will hit theaters late 2015.
