We've been doing our best to keep you updated on the upcoming "The Walking Dead" spinoff (codename: "Cobalt", but also rumored to be titled "Fear the Walking Dead"), and now executive producer Gale Anne Hurd has shared a small update during an interview with THR.
Hurd shared that the new show had recently wrapped production on February 6 but, despite the immense buzz, she says that "We haven't been picked up to series yet" by AMC.
The fact that the show has yet to receive a series order from AMC doesn't mean anything at the moment, as upfronts are still a few months away and that gives AMC time to figure out where to place the series on its schedule. With the Sunday night block belonging to "The Walking Dead" and its after-show, "Talking Dead", AMC may not be inclined to air the spinoff on the same night as that would mean pushing "Talking Dead" to a later time (and possibly covering both shows, which could prove difficult to do in an hour-long show).
One thing AMC could decide to do is air the spinoff in between seasons of "The Walking Dead", providing fans plenty of zombie-based drama throughout the year.
We'll keep you updated on the companion series as we learn more.
