Wake: Fivel Stewart stars in horror film about remake actress meeting original film’s star

Fivel Stewart, who had a role in the recent Sam Raimi-produced horror film Umma (read our review HERE), is now set to star in and executive produce the horror thriller Wake, coming our way from directors Thom Arizmendi and Austin Parks Stewart.

The directors, who are making their feature directorial debuts with this project, are working from a screenplay by Elizabeth H. Vu, who has previously written multiple short films and co-created the mockumentary series Mai Bich Planet. The story Vu crafted for Wake centers on a

a struggling actress who is desperate for a lead role in a Hollywood remake. She tracks down the lead of the original film, who’s now a mysterious recluse. Strange occurrences quickly turn the meeting into a nightmare.

Deadline reports that Fivel Stewart’s fellow producers on Wake are Daniel Blake Smith, Sam Logan, Nick Feild, and Tom Feild. According to IMDb, Austin Parks Stewart will also be working as the cinematographer on the film. While that Wake director doesn’t have any prior credits, Thom Arizmendi has racked up several credits working in the camera and electrical department for the last ten years.

In addition to Umma, Stewart’s acting credits include Pit Fighter, Hansel & Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft, The Last Survivors, American Satan, Bad Company, The Haunting of Sharon Tate, Atypical, and Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman. She is the sister of actor Booboo Stewart and has worked with him on several projects.

I think it has an interesting set-up, so I look forward to seeing how this is going to play out. And what sort of horror this aspiring remake star is going to be facing. This news also reminds me that I need to check out Umma one of these days.
