Paul Bettany has the distinction of being on the ground floor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Robert Downey Jr. In the original Iron Man and subsequent sequels, Bettany played the voice of Tony Stark’s AI system, Jarvis, before being given an on-screen character of the android, Vision. Bettany continued his run into the Disney+ series, WandaVision, where the character has had a kind of resurrection after his demise in Avengers: Infinity War.

The character that held such an important role in Wanda Maximoff’s life was not shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but now ScreenRant (via a scoop from Jeff Sneider’s Hot Mic Podcast) reports that a new series is in development at Disney+ that will continue the adventures of the intelligent android. The studio is reportedly about to open up a writer’s room for a show with the working title Vision Quest. There has yet to be an official comment from Disney nor Marvel Studios.

The title Vision Quest could be an indicator of what the series may explore. There is a story arc in a 1989 comic, West Coast Avengers, where Vision is “dismantled, his human brain patterns wiped out, his skin rendered chalk-white and essentially transforming him into more of a robotic being, as his memories would eventually be restored, though not his emotions. Vision Quest also saw him learn the truth about his children with the Scarlet Witch, as Wanda suffered a ‘hysterical pregnancy’ in which her powers projected into creating imaginary children, who were wiped from existence upon the truth being revealed.”

In WandaVision, much of the events of the comic book arc had already transpired. However, the newer version of this beloved character had simply escaped without any indicator of where he may have gone or who knows about him. He had encountered the past version of himself and engaged in a challenge of intellectual rhetoric before ultimately abandoning the situation. A series where he discovers who he is and his nature is sure to be in the books.

What do you think? Are you excited?
