Earlier this month when the cast for David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD was officially announced, it was reported Viola Davis, Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer were being eyed to play Amanda Waller, who in the comics is the government agent in charge of the antihero team. Well, according to LR, Viola Davis has landed the role.
However, the site says there is one thing that could prevent Viola Davis from appearing in SUICIDE SQUAD: her television schedule. Ratings for Davis' How to Get Away With Murder have been very solid, and the drama series has received mostly positive reviews from critics. If the filmmakers can work around her schedule, Davis will star alongside Jared Leto (Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Will Smith (Deadshot) Tom Hardy (Rick Flagg), Jai Courtney (Boomerang) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) in the upcoming DC movie.
Are you happy Viola Davis will be playing Amanda Waller, or do you think the role should have gone to a different actress?
SUICIDE SQUAD will be in theaters on August 5, 2016.
