Snatch sequel: Vinnie Jones wants to get the gang back together

Vinnie Jones is all for making a sequel to the 2000 film, Snatch, and he wants to get the gang back together to make it happen.

Jones, who played Bullet Tooth Tony in the film, was pondering the idea with “Lad Bible” and he said that fan enthusiasm, especially in the U.S., makes him want to do a sequel. Jones says, “I’d love to do Snatch 2. Especially in America, they say, ‘Are we gonna see Snatch 2?'” The actor also acknowledges that rumors in regards to a sequel to Guy Ritchie’s first film, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, have been more prominent but he believes a sequel to Snatch is the best logical move:

“A few years ago there was a rumour about Lock, Stock [and Two Smoking Barrels but I think worldwide Snatch would be the one to do. I’d love to get the boys back for that one. I think it would be enormous. I think it would be an out-and-out smash. It would be an absolute blockbuster, before it was even shown.”

Snatch is a British-American crime comedy that was written and directed by Guy Ritchie. The movie is set in the London criminal underworld and contains two intertwined plots: one dealing with the search for a stolen diamond, the other with a small-time boxing promoter (Jason Statham) who finds himself under the thumb of a ruthless gangster (Alan Ford) who is ready and willing to have his subordinates carry out severe and sadistic acts of violence. The film features an ensemble cast that also includes Brad Pitt, Vinne Jones, Lennie James, Robbie Gee, Benicio del Toro, Dennis Farina, and Jason Flemyng. Snatch performed quite well critically and financially, securing a 74% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing $83.5 million worldwide on a $10 million budget. The film has also gone on to develop a devoted cult following which only makes Jones more positive for the hopes of doing a sequel:

“You never know with Guy [Ritchie], you know what I mean? J [Jason Statham] and Guy just did a movie together. I mean, who knows? I know Matthew Vaughn [producer] would be up for it, Guy would have to write it. It’s a dream-maker but you never know. You never know. But the good thing is, it wouldn’t be ‘oh, not one of them again’. Everybody would be looking forward to it. I think it’d be the hottest ticket in town for a premiere… Bring Brad [Pitt] back.”

Do YOU think everyone else would share Vinnie Jones’ enthusiasm for a sequel to Snatch?
