It's about time we had another body-swapping movie, and thankfully Christopher Landon, the writer/director behind Blumhouse Productions' HAPPY DEATH DAY films, is going to provide us with one. Per Collider, Landon is developing a body-swapping thriller which is slated to star Vince Vaughn (DRAGGED ACROSS CONCRETE) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies).

Now, here's the fun bit; the as-yet-untitled film will follow a teenager (Newton) who, after swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer (Vaughn), discovers that she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent. Newton as Vaughn. Vaughn as Newton. I like it. As with HAPPY DEATH DAY and HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U, Christopher Landon will write and direct the new film, although he'll be sharing scripting duties with Michael Kennedy this time around. Production on the film is expected to kick off this October. This will continue Landon's long association with Blumhouse, as he penned the second, third, and fourth installments of the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise before going on to write and direct PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES. Responding to the news on Twitter, Landon said that fans should "buckle up for this gory, batshit movie."

In regards to a possible third installment of the HAPPY DEATH DAY franchise, Christopher Landon said, "I definitely have the third movie in my head," shortly before the release of the second film, but after the sequel fell sort of box-office expectations, Landon took to Twitter to clarify that there "is no Happy Death Day 3 in development. It’s just a rumor…unless [Netflix] wants to pony-up and finish this trilogy, it just ain’t happening."
