Vin Diesel is a bloody mess in the first trailer for Bloodshot

Yesterday the official BLOOSHOT Twitter page heralded an imminent first trailer with a slo-mo shotgun blast to Vin Diesel's face, and now the full trailer has officially dropped! The ageless action star takes on the titular role for director Dave Wilson, in a film that by the looks of it, seems right up Vin Diesel's alley.

BLOOSHOT follows the story of Marine Ray Garrison (Diesel), who is resurrected by a secret team of scientists after he and his wife are murdered. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, biotech killing machine – Bloodshot. As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility hellbent on revenge, only to discover that there’s more to the conspiracy than he originally thought.

The film certainly looks intriguing, part THE BOURNE IDENTITY, part DEADPOOL, and with just a hint of TOTAL RECALL thrown in. You gotta love the song choice of Johnny Cash's "Memories Are Made Of This" too. Personally, I'm all in for that recipe and BLOODSHOT is definitely on my radar. One thing that kind of perplexes me, and may irritate Bloodshot comic book fans, is that Bloodshot's signature look — white skin with the big red dot on his chest — is decidedly absent. Now that's not to say it might not show up at some point during the movie, but it occurs to me that if you are going to do BLOODSHOT you might as well go all in.

In addition to Diesel, BLOOSHOT stars Toby Kebbell (ROCKNROLLA), Eiza Gonzalez (BABY DRIVER) and Guy Pearce (PROMETHEUS) and will arterial splash its way into theaters February 21, 2020.
