Vin Diesel already has a few franchises under his belt, such as FAST & FURIOUS, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, XXX, and RIDDICK, but the actor is hoping to add one more with BLOODSHOT, which is intended to serve as the beginning of the Valiant Comics Cinematic Universe and follows Ray Garrison, a soldier resurrected with nano-technology. Diesel shared a photo of himself as Ray Garrison on Instagram, but before you start getting excited, it's quite literally just a photo of the actor wearing army fatigues.
"Ray Garrison is a central character in the Valiant Comic Universe… And for me personally, one of the must complex characters I have been fortunate enough to play. Hope to make you proud…"
I'm assuming this is Ray Garrison before any nano-technology has been used to resurrect him, but there you have it. After being brought back from the brink of death, Ray Garrison finds his memory wiped as he's tasked with rounding up super-powered outcasts known as harbingers, all while struggling to recall his former life as well as come to terms with the type of living weapon he's become. Joining Vin Diesel in BLOODSHOT are Eiza Gonzalez (BABY DRIVER), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Talulah Riley (Westworld), Alex Hernandez (Hemlock Grove), Toby Kebbell (KONG: SKULL ISLAND), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), and Guy Pearce (MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS), who will be playing Dr. Emil Harting, "the genius responsible for the nanotechnology that exists inside the human body to not only repair it, but push it further than normal human limitations." It had been said that the plan was for the project to be similar in tone to films like ROBOCOP, THE TERMINATOR, and TOTAL RECALL, while also following in the footsteps of R-rated comic-book films like LOGAN and DEADPOOL. I suppose we'll be seeing more of BLOODSHOT before too long.
BLOODSHOT will hit theaters on February 21, 2020.
