Vin Diesel becomes the nano-powered Bloodshot in featurette trailer

I have been aware of the upcoming Valiant Comics adaptation BLOODSHOT for quite a while – obviously, as I've been writing articles about it here on Arrow in the Head. But wow, now that we're reaching the release date it's like this thing has snuck up on me. I had forgotten that it's already supposed to be in theatres next week. While watching the new featurette trailer that's embedded above, I wondered, "When does this come out?" I was thinking it was a couple months away. Then at the end of the trailer – AT CINEMAS MARCH 11.

The featurette is interesting, as it has Bloodshot creators Bob Layton and Kevin VanHook discussing their idea to make a nano-powered superhero that's like Frankenstein's Monster crossed with James Bond.

In the film, Vin Diesel plays that character,

Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. Now filled with an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he's an unstoppable force – stronger than ever and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn't know what's real and what's not – but he's on a mission to find out.

This marks the feature directorial debut of David S.F. Wilson, who who runs the visual effects company Blur Studio with Tim Miller. The screenplay was written by Eric Heisserer and Jeff Wadlow.

Diesel's co-stars include Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez, Toby Kebbell, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, and Lamorne Morris.

BLOODSHOT is rated PG-13, which surprised me since one of the most prominent images in the marketing is a shot of the title character getting his face blasted off. I thought this was R material for sure.
