Vin Diesel and David Twohy are planning a Riddick sequel and TV spin-off

The entries in the RIDDICK franchise may not set the world on fire the way the FAST & FURIOUS movies do, but that doesn't mean that star Vin Diesel is any less devoted to them. Although my enjoyment pretty much begins and ends with Riddick's introductory film, the awesome 2000 creature feature PITCH BLACK, I have to respect the way that Diesel and writer/director David Twohy have stuck by the Riddick character and continue to make sure that he keeps coming back to the screen, no matter what troubles they have to go through to make it happen and no matter how lukewarm the response.

Diesel knows how to work his social media accounts, so it's no surprise that his Instagram was the chosen venue for the annoucement that he and Twohy are planning to continue the Riddick franchise with a film sequel and a television spin-off.

will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe.

According to Diesel, Twohy will begin writing the next chapter in THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK next month, and the project is currently going by the title FURIA.

That title is also the name of the world Riddick comes from, and although "furia" is a word used in some languages, I believe the name of Riddick's former home has been spelled Furya up to this point. But who am I to question Diesel's spelling?

Regardless of the spelling, FURIA or FURYA is a much better title than the working title 2013's RIDDICK had: DEAD MAN STALKING.
