With the History Channel's Vikings picking up some steam, that may pave the way for a larger appetite for all things Viking. This includes (but is not limited to) cool ships, battle-damaged armor, manly beards, and war cries before impaling your enemy with cold steel. Enter: NORTHMEN: A VIKING SAGA.
The extended synopsis goes a little something like this:
A gang of Viking marauders under the command of their young leader, Asbjörn, bear down on the coast of Britain, intent on pillaging Lindisfarne of its gold. But, caught in a vicious storm, their longboat is dashed to pieces on the rocks off Scotland. Trapped deep within enemy territory, the shipwrecked mens’ only chance of survival is to reach the safety of the Viking stronghold Danelag. With only the enigmatic Conall, a monk who preaches with his sword to help them, they cut a bloody swath through anyone who gets in their way. But the journey becomes a race for their lives when the King of Scotland sends his most feared mercenaries, the Wolf Pack, after them. Traversing an unfamiliar and hostile land, they are pursued relentlessly. However the hunters become the hunted when the Vikings, eager for battle, set deadly traps and mercilessly decimate their pursuers one by one…
Sounds like a bloody good time to me! Fortunately we have a teaser trailer to whet our appetites. And yes, it IS more fun if you yell along with the Vikings.

This film looks like it knows exactly what it's aiming for, and given how much fun Ryan Kwanten has in True Blood, I look forward to checking out his sword-wielding priest in this.
NORTHMEN: A VIKING SAGA, starring Ed Skrein, Ryan Kwanten, James Norton, Tom Hopper, and Charlie Murphy, will see a limited release on October, 9, 2014.
