A new episode in our Revisited video series has just been released, and in this one we’re taking a look back at the 1983 sci-fi horror thriller Videodrome (watch it HERE). Written and directed by David Cronenberg, Videodrome is one of the filmmaker’s “body horror” classics – and you can hear all about it by checking out the video embedded above!
The film has the following synopsis:
As the president of a trashy TV channel, Max Renn is desperate for new programming to attract viewers. When he happens upon “Videodrome,” a TV show dedicated to gratuitous torture and punishment, Max sees a potential hit and broadcasts the show on his channel. However, after his girlfriend auditions for the show and never returns, Max investigates the truth behind Videodrome and discovers that the graphic violence may not be as fake as he thought.
Videodrome stars James Woods, Sonja Smits, Deborah Harry, Peter Dvorsky, Les Carlson, Jack Creley, and Lynne Gorman.
The Videodrome episode of Revisited was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Lance Vlcek, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Several series on the JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel are released under the Revisited banner. (Episodes of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw, The Black Sheep, Deconstructing, Horror Party Movies, Best Foreign Horror Movies, Playing with Fear, and Real Slashers are all labeled Revisited on YouTube.) A few weeks ago, we got a new series simply titled Revisited started with an episode dedicated to Chopping Mall. The second episode covered Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, and the Videodrome episode is the third in the series.
The two previous episodes of Revisited can be seen below, along with a sample of one of our other shows. To see more, head over to the JoBlo Horror Originals channel – and subscribe while you’re at it!
