Writer/director Jacob Chase's supernatural horror film COME PLAY is set to reach theatres on October 30th, and in the video embedded above our own JimmyO talks with Chase and stars Gillian Jacobs and John Gallagher Jr. about their experience making the movie, with some interesting discussion about the film's characters and creepy creature.
A feature expansion of Chase's short film LARRY, COME PLAY also stars newcomer Azhy Robertson. The story centers on
Oliver (Robertson), a lonely young boy who feels different from everyone else. Desperate for a friend, he seeks solace and refuge in his ever-present cell phone and tablet. When a mysterious creature uses Oliver’s devices against him to break into our world, Oliver’s parents (Jacobs and Gallagher) must fight to save their son from the monster beyond the screen.
The film was produced by The Picture Company for Amblin Partners, and when the project was first announced it was said that the intention was to "harken back to early Amblin movies" with this one.
I'm glad to see that the pandemic hasn't put a complete stop to the release of horror films this Halloween season. COME PLAY looks like it's going to make for solid Halloween viewing.
