After delivering a standout performance as Nell for Netflix and Mike Flannagan's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, it's been announced that Victoria Pedretti will return for the second chapter of the horror anthology series, THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR.
As many of you are likely to already be aware, THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR is inspired by Henry James’ psychological gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw, which takes place almost exclusively in a weathered country mansion. In James' traumatic tale of terror, two young orphans are managed by a young governess named Dani. The sinister story is told in large part from the young woman's perspective, who in time believes that the manor grounds have been corrupted by a malevolent force.
Following The Turn of the Screw's 1898 serial format publication in Collier's Weekly magazine, academics obsessed over James' story, arguing that the exact nature of the evil featured in the story remained delightfully undefinied. In time, the book had become asubject of much debate, and is still the focus of many literary studies to this very day. Netflix's upcoming presentation of the story won't be the only time that The Turn of the Screw has been adapted into other forms of entertainment, seeing as the story has already become a radio play, a Broadway stage production, and a 1961 film titled THE INNOCENTS.
Shortly after today's exciting announcement, Pedretti posted a video to the official Twitter account for The Haunting of Hill House, which you can watch for yourself below:
Scripting for THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR is currently underway with the sequel series set to haunt Netflix sometime in 2020.
