"We Are Venom!" and now Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) has even more company as Carnage is unleashed in the first trailer for VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE, the highly anticipated sequel to the box office hit, Venom.
Directed by Andy Serkis with a screenplay from Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock/Venom alongside Woody Harrelson, who is bringing one of Venom's biggest adversaries, Cletus Kassady/Carnage, to life. Kassady is a psychotic serial killer who also becomes the host of an alien symbiote known as Carnage. Also new to the franchise is Naomie Harris, playing the role of Shriek, Kassady's love interest. Michelle Williams returns as Eddie's ex-fiancee, district attorney Anne Weying, while Reid Scott rounds out the cast as Anne's boyfriend.
A sequel to Venom was planned during the production of the first film. Harrelson was cast to make a brief appearance as Cletus Kassady to tease that the villain Carnage would appear in the follow-up. Official work on the film began in January 2019 and filming took place at Leavesden Studios in England from November 2019 to February 2020, with additional filming in San Francisco that same month.
Venom: Let There Carnage was originally slated to be released on October 2, 2020, before it was shifted to June 25, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film saw another delay to September 17, 2021, and was then delayed again until its current release date, September 24, 2021.
