Venom 3: Tom Hardy is already thinking about another sequel

Venom 3 Tom Hardy

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will finally hit theaters next month, but if all goes well, it won’t be the last we see of Tom Hardy in the title role. While speaking with Esquire, Tom Hardy teased that he’s already been thinking about Venom 3.

I’m thinking about the third movie as well, because I think you need to write that at the same time.

Kelly Marcel penned the script for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but Tom Hardy also received a Story By credit for his work on the film. When asked whether they might join forces once again for Venom 3, Hardy wouldn’t say. “A third won’t be greenlit until the second is successful,” Hardy said, “but the studio were really, really pleased with number two.” It’s far too early to guess what delights Venom 3 might bring, but fans have long wondered just when Venom might cross paths with Spider-Man. It turns out that Tom Hardy is very much into making that crossover happen.

I would be remiss if I wasn’t trying to steer any kind of connectivity,” Hardy said. “I wouldn’t be doing the job if I wasn’t awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that… Should both sides be willing, and it be beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be. I hope and strongly, with both hands, push, eagerly, towards that potential, and would do anything to make that happen, within what’s right in business. But it would be foolish not to head towards the Olympic Games if you were running 100 metres, so yeah! I want to play on that field.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage finds Andy Serkis taking over from Ruben Fleischer in the director’s chair, and features Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams reprising their roles of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying, respectively, with Woody Harrelson also starring as Cletus Kasady, the man who will become Carnage. Venom: Let There Be Carnage also stars Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek, a love interest of Kasady’s described by Serkis as a damaged soul who has been living in isolation. The film will hit theaters on September 24, 2021.
