Prior to the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, director Andy Serkis called the sequel a “love story,” and while it may not be a traditional romantic relationship, Venom and Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) are quite the pair. With the film set to be released on home media next month, a Venom 2 deleted scene has been released which finds Eddie and Venom enjoying a romantic moment on the beach. You can check that out above.
The visual effects aren’t quite finished, but I like this Venom 2 deleted scene a lot. It’s a shame that it ended up on the cutting room floor. Here’s what Andy Serkis had to say regarding Venom: Let There Be Carnage as a love story prior to the film’s release:
The film is a love story—but not the love story you might think. It’s very much about the extraordinary relationship between symbiote and host. Any love affair has its pitfalls, its high points and low points; Venom and Eddie’s relationship absolutely causes problems and stress, and they have a near-hatred for each other. But they have to be with each other—they can’t live without each other. That’s companionship—love—the things that relationships are really about.
Here’s a SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t seen Venom: Let There Be Carnage yet. This Venom 2 deleted scene likely would have taken place at the end of the film, when Eddie and Venom go on vacation after saving the day. In a post-credit scene, a strange phenomenon seems to transport Eddie and Venom into the Marvel Cinematic Universe where they see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the TV.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set to be released on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray/DVD on December 14, 2021, so be sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray.
