I watch a lot of micro-budget indie movies, and one thing I like to see is when the filmmakers don't let their lack of money hold them back from telling stories with a large scope or from exploring any sort of genre they want to. Writer/director Addison Heath's upcoming film MONDO YAKUZA appears to be a prime example of that.
An action/revenge film, MONDO YAKUZA tells the story of
Ichiro Kataki, a violent Yakuza gang member travels to Melbourne, Australia after his beloved sister Yuko is brutally murdered by a group of criminals. Hell bent on vengeance he teams up with Cassidy Arizona, a lady of the night with a vendetta of her own…
A film working from a set-up like that has the potential to be a whole lot of fun, and the newly released trailer makes MONDO YAKUZA look very entertaining to me, with moments reminiscent of movies I love like EL MARIACHI and KILL BILL.
MONDO YAKUZA stars Kenji Shimada, Skye Medusa, Glenn Maynard, Rob Stanfield, Cris Cochrane, and Saya Minami.
I am really looking forward to this movie now, and am intrigued to learn more about Heath's works.
