Director Yeon Sang-ho's TRAIN TO BUSAN (you can watch TRAIN TO BUSAN at THIS LINK) follow-up TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA is now officially a hit at the South Korean box office, and earlier this month distributor Well Go USA Entertainment announced that audiences in the U.S. and Canada will have their chance to see the movie on the big screen starting August 7th. That still holds true for Canada, but due to the ongoing pandemic most theatres in the U.S. are not quite ready for PENINSULA yet. So Well Go USA has decided to delay the U.S. release by two weeks. The film will now reach select theatres in the U.S. on August 21st.
TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA has the following synopsis:
Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in Train to Busan, Jung-seok (Gang Dong-won), a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best — or worst — of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.
Gang Dong-Won, Lee Jung-Hyun, Lee Re, Kwon Hae-Hyo, Kim Min-Jae, Go Kyo-Hwan, Kim Do-Yoon, and Lee Ye-Won star.
If you're in Canada and the U.S. but don't think you'll want to head out to any theatres on August 7th or the 21st, I totally understand that. Luckily, Shudder has already secured the exclusive streaming rights to TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA and are planning to make the film available to watch on the streaming service sometime in 2021. That's the date I'll be waiting for.
