Christopher Landon, the filmmaker behind HAPPY DEATH DAY and HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U, is working with Blumhouse again to make a film that sounds like the perfect way to follow up those two fun slasher flicks… Or at least, it's the best alternative to getting a HAPPY DEATH DAY 3.
Landon's new film, which he has written with Michael Kennedy, is a currently untitled body swap horror film that stars Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn in the story of
a young girl who swaps bodies with a deranged serial killer and discovers she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.
So, like the HAPPY DEATH DAY movies, it seems this could be a good mixture of death and destruction with a mystical / sci-fi element.
Now it has been announced that Uriah Shelton has joined the cast of the film to play a character named Booker, who is the female lead's love interest. We can probably expect to see him have weird run-ins with both the serial killer who now inhabits his girlfriend's body, and his girlfriend in the serial killer's body.
Just 22 years old, Shelton already has 12 years of screen credits to his name. Those credits include roles on the TV shows Ghost Whisperer, R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour, Last Man Standing, Justified, The Glades, Girl Meets World, 13 Reasons Why, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Looking for Alaska. Jason Blum is producing Landon's film in association with Divide/Conquer.
