UPDATE! Oscar winner Trent Reznor NOT scoring and acting in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

UPDATE: “Don’t believe everything you read,” says Trent Reznor. The Nine Inch Nails frontman himself, after just recently discussing the rumor of his scoring and starring cameo in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, has now gone on record over at his official NIN message board that the gig is not happening and that it was never even solidified to begin with:

“Don’t believe everything you read. As it turns out, I WON’T be working on (acting or scoring) ALVH after all. There’s no juicy story here, it’s just that when the news mysteriously leaked out about my involvement I hadn’t made up my mind completely, because various aspects of the project were changing. I felt the need to say something earlier this week because my inbox was filling up with speculation, and at that moment I thought I would be doing it. Confused yet? Apparently I am.

Bottom line, I wish them the best with the film and I’m sure it will still be great.

Also, in all the excitement of the last note I forgot to mention we’re still fully engaged with the Year Zero mini-series, writing away.”

March 3, 2011: Though I was rooting for Hans Zimmer’s incredible INCEPTION score on Oscar night, I wasn’t mad that Trent Reznor walked away the winner for his very good work with Atticus Ross on THE SOCIAL NETWORK. But what’s an Oscar winner to do now? Score another film and be cast as a vampire, of course. Let’s see you do that, Hans!

According to sources close to Badass Digest, Reznor has been brought on to score the upcoming history-meets-monsters mash-up, ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.

But not only that, Reznor will also apparently be portraying the vampire that — SPOILERS — kills Lincoln’s mom! Very weird. Now, in case you’re wondering, Reznor has appeared in a feature film before in 1987 – a little before the time Nine Inch Nails was formed – in Paul Schrader’s LIGHT OF DAY with Michael J. Fox, Gena Rowlands, and Joan Jett. Again, weird.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, from director Timur Bekmambetov, opens June 22, 2012.
