Unseen: Texas Chainsaw Massacre producer joins Soska Sisters’ BlindSide adaptation

Two years ago, it was announced that the filmmaking duo of Jen and Sylvia Soska (a.k.a. the Soska Sisters, a.k.a. the Twisted Twins) would be writing, directing, and producing a cinematic adaptation of the game BlindSide (an “audio-only adventure, set in a fully-immersive 3D world you’ll never see”) for Radar Pictures. That adaptation is called Unseen, and now that the Soskas have finished working on their psychosexual thriller On the Edge it looks like Unseen will be their next movie. It has been reported that Ted Field – executive producer of the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – has come on board to produce the film alongside the Soskas, and casting is underway.

Described as a psychological sci-fi thriller, Unseen is set in the 1970s and will tell the story of

a Boston couple who wakes up one day to find they can’t see. They soon discover everyone else has also been rendered blind and their only hope is Ada, a woman who previously could not see but has now had her sight restored. Soon they realize there is something else in the darkness with them.

Maria Frisk, Michael Napoliello, and Alex Power of Radar Pictures are also producing the film. Film Mode Entertainment’s Clay Epstein serves as executive producer.

Epstein provided the following statement: “Audiences have already shown enormous appetite for sensory deprivation thrillers and Unseen is going to raise the bar even higher in this high concept and suspenseful story. With the phenomenal talent of the Soska Sisters at the helm and Ted Field guiding the team forward, we know have a hit on our hands. Not only are we thrilled and honored to be working with Ted, Sylvia and Jen, we just can’t wait for audiences to embrace this thill ride as much as we have.

Field added: “Unseen is an experiential horror film that places the audience in Kafkaesque dilemma where they wake up in a world of unknown terrors they can only hear since their sight is gone.

And the Soskas had this to say: “As lifelong gamers, we have always wanted to have the opportunity to adapt a video game into a feature film experience. Breaking new ground by exploring a thriller narrative within science fiction has given us the ability to elevate our story like never before. We are excited for fans to see something completely new from us.
