Last week things weren't looking good for Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs biopic with Sony putting the film in turnaround, but THR is reporting Universal has picked up the project. Boyle will direct the film for Universal from a script by Aaron Sorkin (based on the Walter Isaacson biography Steve Jobs), with Michael Fassbender playing the Apple co-founder, and Seth Rogen and Jessica Chastain are reportedly still attached to star in it as well. According to sources, Universal paid $30 million for the rights to the movie.
Do we really need another Steve Jobs movie? Well, yes because the Ashton Kutcher one wasn't very good. Hopefully Danny Boyle won't have anymore problems getting his new movie made, and it will likely be a major player come awards season.
There's no word on when Danny Boyle will start filming, but with Universal picking up the planned film and Michael Fassbender set to play Steve Jobs, we'll likely be hearing more about the project in the near future.
