Legendary movie host / critic Joe Bob Briggs says he hates “cat and mouse” sequences in movies, but “cat and mouse” seems to go over rather well in general – so much so that the upcoming thriller Unit 234 is even being sold on the term. Isabelle Fuhrman of Orphan and The Last Thing Mary Saw stars in the film, which Deadline reports is currently filming in the Cayman Islands.

Directed by Andy Tennant (Sweet Home Alabama) from a screenplay by first-time feature writer Derek Steiner, Unit 234 sees Fuhrman taking on the role of

Laurie Saltair, who discovers the comatose man, Clayton, in Unit 234 of her family’s storage facility, while working the night shift alone. What transpires is a thrill ride of a cat-and-mouse game for Laurie and Clayton to survive the night.

It hasn’t been revealed who’s playing Clayton in the film.

Unit 234 has been fully financed by Productivity Media. The film is being produced by Blythe Frank, Hadeel Reda, and Lee Dreyfus, along with Productivity Media’s William G. Santor and Doug Murray. Colleen Camp serves as executive producer.

Fuhrman can always be counted on to deliver a solid performance and I enjoy “cat and mouse” thrills myself, so I’m looking forward to seeing how Unit 234 turns out. In the meantime, we’re still anxiously waiting to hear when Paramount is going to release Orphan: First Kill, a prequel in which Fuhrman reprises the role of serial killer Esther, an adult who’s able to pass as a 9-year-old child. Now in her twenties, Fuhrman was a tween when she previously played the character. Now she has somehow been able to play Esther again. At one time, Orphan: First Kill had been scheduled to reach theatres in January, but there has been no word on a new release date since it missed that one.

We’ll keep you updated on both Orphan: First Kill and Unit 234 as more information is revealed.
