Argentinian filmmaker Luciano Onetti's giallo throwback FRANCESCA has released a series of enticing posters and trailers while remaining frustratingly at arm's distance from U.S. fans. It premiered at Sitges in October, but it still hasn't touched American soil. However, the time may soon come that we can enjoy the retro glamor for ourselves.
Unearthed Films has acquired the North American distribution rights for the film, so hopefully they'll act upon them soon and unleash FRANCESCA upon the continent.
Written by Luciano Onetti and his brother Nicolás, FRANCESCA has the following story:
It's been 15 years since the disappearance of little Francesca, daughter of the renowned storyteller, poet and dramatist Vittorio Visconti, and the community is stalked by a psychopath bent on cleaning the city of "impure and damned souls". Moretti and Succo, questioned by the ineffectiveness ofthe police force, are the detectives in charge of elucidating the mystery surrounding these "Dantesque" crimes. Francesca seems to have returned, but she is not the same girl who everyone knew…
Raul Gederlini, Silvina Grippaldi, Luis Emilio Rodríguez, and Gustavo D'Alessandro star.
