Arrow in the Head readers have been following the progress of John "The Arrow" Fallon's THE SHELTER ever since the early stages, as we've provided production updates, clips, and let you know what was going on with the film as it played at festivals around the world. Today, we have some great news to share with you:
THE SHELTER has landed distribution in the United States and Canada, with Uncork'd Entertainment acquiring the rights and planning a theatrical and digital release for this fall.
Fallon wrote, produced (with Donny Broussard), and made his directorial debut on THE SHELTER, which stars Michael Paré, Gayle James, Rachel Whittle, Lauren Thomas, Daena Turner, and Amy Wickenheiser. In the film,
Vagrant Thomas Jacob (Michael Paré of "Eddie and the Cruisers" fame) finds shelter for the night when he falls upon a seemingly abandoned two-story home with its lights on and an inviting front door. Once inside, his past comes to haunt him and he soon realizes that he is not alone. There's a supernatural force on hand and it won't let him leave. Destiny has brought Thomas to this place but will he survive the ordeal?
Fallon had this to say about the distribution deal with Uncork'd: "It was very important for me to find a domestic distributor that understood The Shelter for what it was and that wouldn’t try to rework it into something that it wasn't. I thankfully found that in Uncork'd Entertainment and I am beyond elated to move forward with them on the picture!"
Paré describes THE SHELTER as "a great and painful tragedy, not about global disaster or war or economic collapse but of the individual human heart. The human heart and soul is what all art seeks to unravel. Guilt, regret and shame kill the heart and soul. When our lower animal nature dominates our character our soul is lost."
Uncork'd President Keith Leopard praised Paré's performance, saying that he is "superb in the lead role – we're anticipating some great notices on his turn here."
THE SHELTER was executive produced by Bruise Productions and JoBlo Movie Productions. Production and post-production elements were completed by Holbrook Multi Media. You can keep up to date with THE SHELTER on Twitter, Facebook, and at the film's official site.
